We are excited to announce the release of The Qur’an with References to the Bible:
A Contemporary Understanding, by Dr. Safi Kaskas PhD. and Dr. David Hungerford, MD.
This project started with three goals in mind to achieve:
A simple and easy to read English translation of the meanings of the Qur’an.
A translation that represents a fresh understanding of the original Arabic based on the presently available resources of knowledge.
A translation that will be a tool for reconciliation. It will not strive to emphasize the differences between Islam and the other Abrahamic religions (wall-building), rather it will emphasize the commonalities (bridge-building).
The authors have worked together to produce a translation of the Qur’an into contemporary, easy to understand English. There are many English translations of the Qur’an from which to choose. However, there are none to our knowledge that are a collaboration of a native Arabic speaking devout Muslim and a native English speaking devout Christian.
Moreover, the Bible references printed throughout the text as footnotes allow ease in discovering the common ground between these two great books – while fostering a fresh, in depth study for Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
