The first step on the journey of walking the PATH of PEACE PATH is to plant a peace community. The second step to develop these communities is by applying these six core practices:
Become Good Friends
This means we chose to have friendships with each other with no agenda but love. The focus was not on conversions but spiritual conversations. The theological basis for this practice was in the core message of Jesus to love our neighbor as ourselves and to treat other people the way we want to be treated.
As Christians we believed that Jesus was not only Prophet, Priest and King, but also the “Friend of Sinners.” We were of the conviction that to follow him meant that we had to be the friend to all who God brought into our path. We could not call ourselves followers of Jesus and consciously hate, reject or be prejudiced against our Muslim brothers and sisters.
Eat Together
As stated before we are not friends until we are eating in each other’s homes and our kids play together.
Explore Faith Together
We discussed our similarities and differences. This is how we communicate the gospel and message of reconciliation in words through sharing our faith story, Jesus Dialogues, Communities of Reconciliation and holy book studies.
Serve Together
This is how we demonstrated the gospel and message of reconciliation in deeds by partnering together for the common good.
Worship & Pray Together
Worship and prayer in authentic community – never forget to spend time worshipping God and praying together.
