Webster's Dictionary defines "Salvation" as:
- Deliverance from the power and effects of sin.
Yet, all three Abrahamic Holy Books define “salvation” as “life:”
- Old Testament: Hebrew word chay also means “life” ( Jews often toast la chaim; “to life” ).
- New Testament: Aramaic word chay “salvation” also means “life.”
- The Qur’an: Arabic chay also means “life.”
This root word chay is often translated as salvation, this also means "life"
While salvation means “life” in the hereafter, don’t we all desire a fulfilled and fruitful life while on earth?
- All Abrahamic holy books are filled with promises of both (fulfilled life on earth and in paradise).
- “Praise the Lord (YHWH), my soul, and forget not all his benefits who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with grace and compassion (Hebrew: rahman), who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalm 103:3-5
- “So God gave them rewards in this world and best rewards in the life to come. God loves those who do good.” Qur'an 3:148
- The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10
- "...your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." Matthew 6:10
Who gives "Life" ?
- “I charge you in the presence of God, the life-giver to all, and before Jesus Christ…” 1 Tim 6:13
- “Only those who can hear will respond; and as for the dead, God will raise them from the dead Qur’an 6:36
God is the source of all life and creation.
